Matthew Stafford
The starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions is Matthew Stafford. Stafford was drafted by the Lions first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. He has been with the team ever since and has been their starting quarterback for the past nine seasons.

The following year, he injured his leg and missed another contest. In 2014, Stafford sprained his ankle and yet still played in all 16 games. Finally, in 2015, Stafford dislocated his finger but stayed on the field for the entire game
Dan Orlovsky
The Detroit Lions have not had the best of luck when it comes to quarterbacks in recent years. But they may have found a gem in Dan Orlovsky. The 31-year-old quarterback has been with the Lions since 2014 and has been a steady presence on the team.
His career with the Lions
Orlovsky was drafted by the Lions in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He became the starting quarterback for the Lions late in the 2008 season after an injury to Daunte Culpepper. He started seven games, winning one and losing six. In those seven games, he threw for 1,616 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The Lions finished the 2008 season with a 0-16 record, becoming only the second team in NFL history to do so.
Orlovsky was re-signed by the Lions on February 27, 2009. On November 22, 2009, Orlovsky threw what has been considered one of the worst passes in NFL history, running out of the back of his own end zone for a safety against the Minnesota Vikings. The safety gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead, which they never relinquished; they went on to win 27-9.
His performance in the 2015 season
2015 was a breakout season for Orlovsky. He started eight games and threw for 2,443 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His passer rating was 93.8, which was the highest of his career.
Jake Rudock
Jake Rudock is the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Lions. Rudock played college football at Michigan.
His career with the Lions
Jake Rudock was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 2016 NFL Draft in the 6th Round. He started his career as their 3rd string quarterback, but became their starting quarterback in the latter half of his rookie season. Rudock has been with the Lions for three years now and is currently their starting quarterback.
His performance in the 2016 season
Rudock completed 141 of his 228 passes for 1,613 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions in 2016. He also ran for three touchdowns. Rudock’s quarterback rating was 84.4.
