Despite success within the NFL’s pre-merger era, including becoming NFL Champions in 1935 and 1952 (both before Super Bowls were played), the Lions have yet to win an NFL Championship since 1957 or an NFC championship since 1991; however they did make it to Super Bowl XLV but lost to the Green Bay Packers 30-21 during the 2010 season which had one of their best records at 10-6 under new head coach Jim Schwartz who was hired that off season after going 2-14 under former head coach Rod Marinelli which is also tied with their 2008 0-16 record being their worst ever seasons in franchise history until 2017 when they went 9-7 missing playoffs but having another winning season under new head coach Matt Patricia going 6-10 his first year then 3-12ufffd1 his second year currently being their worst seasons ever again despite having some winning seasons recently like 2016 when they finished first place in NFC north with a record of 9ufffd7 making playoffs but losing 26ufffd6 against Seattle Seahawks Wild Card game then going 8ufffd7 finishing third place next year not making playoffs just missing out and now this past 2019 season when they finished third place again with a record of 5ufffd11 despite having some recent success hopefully things will turn around soon for them and they’ll be back contending for championships once again soon led by quarterback Matthew Stafford who has been with them since he was drafted number 1 overall back in 2009 draft.
